Burn Center Data in findERnow

On an annual basis, EMNet compiles publicly available burn center data about all U.S. emergency rooms, and presents this information in findERnow. Specifically, EMNet compiles lists of burn centers verified by the American Burn Association (ABA) or local government (state or Washington, D.C.).

EMNet also can provide researchers with the complete list of burn centers (yes/no), linked with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Provider ID numbers. To request this list, please contact us at emnet@partners.org with a project proposal, including:

  • Your name, title, and contact information
  • Background information on project
  • Your objective/hypothesis
  • Study design, including analytic plan
  • Year(s) of burn center data requested
  • Potential authors (including institution) of the resulting presentation or report
  • Timeline for project

In any resulting presentation or report (including scientific manuscripts), please cite: Lu LY, Boggs KM, Espinola JA, Sullivan AF, Cash RE, Camargo CA Jr. Development of a Unified National Database of Burn Centers with Co-located Emergency Departments, 2020. The above data are provided to academic researchers free of charge on reasonable request and after submission of a complete project proposal. If you are interested in obtaining more detailed data, they may be available for purchase. Please contact us via the EMNet Health Services Research Core to inquire about purchasing data or services.
